How long does treatment take?
Great question! And one I am very frequently asked in my practice. To answer this question, we must first address what’s in the treatment itself. After your homeopathic consultation, your practitioner will select a carefully chosen homeopathic remedy based on the totality of your symptoms. In brief, the homeopathic remedy is usually made from plants or simple minerals. Homeopathic remedies are given to stimulate the whole body to heal itself. This differs from herbs and regular medicines and drugs which are given to take away specific symptoms from isolated parts of the body. They are safe, non-toxic, have no side effects, and are helpful for people of all ages (even infants and young children) regardless of diagnosis or medical condition. With that foundation laid as to what the homeopathic treatment is itself, back to the original question: how long does treatment take? In homeopathy, each individual experiences the reaction to the remedy in a different way. Usually the effects are gentle and gradual, though at times, more rapid or dramatic changes may occur. As such, people improve over widely varying periods of time. The improvement is usually proportionate to how long you’ve had the problem or condition, and how severe it is. There may be ups and downs and particular symptoms may not resolve for many months in some cases. But, your general health should get better and you should feel steady, gradual improvement in your energy and well-being. From that place of feeling better and with a more optimal level of general health, subsequently, specific symptoms improve as the strengthened body defenses become active. Well chosen homeopathic remedies cause healing responses that last at least a month. In general, this amounts to seeing a homeopath about once every 4-8 weeks for several months for chronic health issues in order to begin restoring harmony and balance to a person’s overall system. Follow-up visits provide a full review of any changes that occurred. Also an assessment will be made regarding if the remedy needs to be repeated or changed, as well as a full outline of next steps in treatment. As you can tell, there are no hard and fast rules on how long treatment should take. That has a lot to do with homeopathy being an individualized treatment approach. We value you as a unique person and treat you as such. If you have more specific questions about your treatment plan or approach, be sure to contact your homeopathic practitioner. Thanks for watching! Sincerely, Noel
